Date Night Sitter
Last night was our first night out with the new sitter at home with Nolan. We went to see Mission Impossible 4 and had dinner at a new burger place. Our sitter was fantastic. She responded to my text after the movie. Instead of just saying he was doing great she gave us a quick detail of his evening. When we got home she shared how much she enjoyed playing with Nolan. She was awesome!
We would...
10 millimeters and straight
Every six weeks or so I pull a muscle in my back and end up barely walking around. I thought I did the same lifting Nolan a week ago so I went to the chiropractor.
On my initial visit, they took X-rays and did a range of motion test. I started muscle therapy and adjustment. Today I went back and had my X-rays read.
She put the one on the left up and I was like well what’s wrong with...
Ears Ears Ears
When it comes to Nolan and sickness lately I feel like I’m just winging it or guessing. Nolan was sick the week before Christmas with bronchiolitis and a double ear infection. He completed his 10 day round of antibiotics and he appeared to be feeling better.
For about a week now, he has been waking every few hours in the night fussing or screaming. We assumed it was teeth. So we offered...
Weekend highlights
Nolan scooted himself across the dining room floor and under the table ( on his belly).
We went on two neighborhood walks. One with the stroller and on with the wagon.
We took the wagon to the community park. Nolan tried swinging on the swings.
We tried two new restaurants. Both yummy, trendy, and kid friendly without being Chuck E Cheese!
I napped twice with Nolan.
The tree came...

How long do you wait?
This has been my issue with being sick since probably forever. How long before I go to the doctor? Are my symptoms even treatable? I hate to go in for just the common cold. I hate that I do wait. Duh, of course 104 temp isn’t the common cold. I didn’t go in the first time I got sick. I just chalked it up to the flu. I waited another 3 weeks before going in to a walk in clinic.
Even...
Runny
My mind says hey jump on the treadmill but my nose quickly says ah shut up and get another tissue! My post flu cold is getting better but it’s still lingering and returning to work after the holidays is draining!
New Year
I’ve been reading about metabolism since mine went to shit after having Nolan and I came across this eating motto by Jillian Michaels…” If it had a mother or it came from the ground eat it.”
We plan meals for the week. That is how we shop. Sure we keep a few frozen left overs or staples for lazy days but for the most part every evening meal is planned. Tyler planned this...
Home Again
It always amazes me how debilitating the flu is. It couldn’t possibly happen to me I got two flu shots this year! I can’t seem to wish the fever away not even when I take an ice cold shower.
My room look like it threw up. I have chill clothes and sweating clothes thrown all over!
Last night I hit 104 with splotchy red spots before I went into a sweat frenzy that dropped me to 99....

Sick
For two days I’ve been battling shivers and sweats but it never dawned nome that it may be the flu. I got the flu shot! Yesterday after lunch I went back to my classroom and couldn’t get enough clothes off without being inappropriate. I decided to take my temp. Turns out it was 102.5. Nolan and I trekked it home and crashed in the bed together for two hours. Sadly I woke him by my...
Wall Art
Almost two months later and we have three things hanging on the wall. Two pieces I made by repurposing old items around the house. Slow progress on the decorating front.
Um...maybe you should wait
Someone asked me today about having a baby in terms of child care and raising a baby without family around. I’m not sure she was expecting my answer. Actually I was surprised how I answered her question.
It’s not really a secret that I’ve wanted a baby since probably I could have had a baby. I also wanted to make sure that I was ready. I explained to the gal that it’s...
Never mind
3 years ago, I stumbled upon my hair stylist in Nashville. Not only is he a man, he’s fabulous at cutting hair. Last visit he sent me to flat irons anonymous.
Each time we discuss my past hair colors and he compliments my natural color. He says that women pay big money to get my color. Briefly I considered getting highlights or changing it up a bit but that ended with a visit to the...
Paragraphs
I’m pretty annoyed that all the paragraphs I created on the tumblr blog do not show up on my phone.
11 years
A couple of weeks from now, will mark the 11th Anniversary of my blind date with my best friend. To thing I just guessed his dad’s name and asked for Tyler. Sometimes I look back and think that I knew he was the one from the first date. Then again isn’t 16 too young to just know?
Self Health
A few weeks ago I got released from my Endocrinologist. My PCOS treatment plan does not require monitoring.
My running program varies. The time change has thrown me but I average 3 days a week minimum. I run with barefoot shoes. I absolutely love running in my Merrell Barefoot shoes. Think toes shoes without the toe cut outs. I won’t go back to a heavy sneaker!
I hit a 25 pound weight...
Work Update
I usually try and post daily about Nolan but I haven’t shared about myself in a long time.
I enjoy teaching Kindergarten. I never knew that 5 year olds could drive me crazy and happy at the same time. My class thrives on a routine and will hold me to it if I get off schedule.
I’m adjusting to not having a co-teacher. One the one hand I love it because I make the rules but I miss...

Date night
We had carry out pasta by the dim light while sitting at our card table. I suppose it was romantic. It just makes me feel old and totally like a mom.
Reliving the 20's
We have been in the house almost two weeks and some things have come up that are taking some getting used to.
The electrical outlets require 3 prong adaptors. Most outlets are located in odd places like inside closets and on the baseboard.
Plaster is a look that I am not familiar with. The crumbles, peels, and roughness take some getting used too. It’s not dirty just old.
Creepy...
Flipping Pants
Where do the people who are in between regular and plus size find pants? I suppose a better question is where to find post baby pants? Like the song “the old gray mare” things aren’t like they used to be!
Home
Tyler made Sloppy Joes. Real Sloppy Joes not Mamwich kind. We cleaned up dinner and went for a walk around our new neighborhood. It started off a little iffy because there is not a sidewalk in front of our house. We ended up headed in the opposite direction in the bike lane for a few blocks. We live about 9 blocks from the hub of Sylvan Park. A few cute restaurants and shops and especially my...
Quick Update
We’ve been in our house for almost a week. I think I’m finally starting to get used to it. I want all the boxes gone and we have a creepy basement but in due time. Nolan finally slept in his room last night in his new crib. He only made it till midnight and couldn’t seem to settle back into a sleep in the crib so Tyler put him back in the rock in play. So far so good since 8.

Overwhelmed
I’ve just torn my closet apart and I’m overwhelmed with the categories of food. I just want to donate it all and start over. I’ve got maternity, too big, too small, teacher clothes, casual clothes, winter clothes, summer clothes, good will bound clothes, blankets, and clothes just that I wear now.
I’m about to make a giant pile and then go thru it!
Post Baby Jeans
So the maternity jeans were retired when Nolan was eight weeks and with fall approaching it’s time to find a pair of jeans.
The hard part is coming to terms with the fact that I can’t wear my Pre- baby beloved gap jeans. 3 dark rinse butt lifting pairs and they don’t go past my hips. Who knew child birth would widen my hips? Once I’ve accepted that and that I’m two sizes bigger than Pre- prego...
Too Many Stops
We are on our way home and so far it feels that we have made too many stops.
Edgewood for a diaper change
Marion for Chinese Lunch
Goreville for almost diaper blow out
Metropolis Rest Area
We are minutes away and it feels as if we have been in this car forever! We’ve been talking about a mini van just for travel comfort. I’ve flipped over the seat 4 times this trip and tried to...

What are you willing to give up?
We looked at a house today to move into when our lease is up and the question afterwards while deciding to go forward is what are we willing to give up?
The bigger question is probably what’s more important? Right now for us it’s square footage and two bedrooms.
The house we looked at was a 1926 cottage in a desirable neighborhood. With 1200 sq feet and 3 bedroom, the place...
Good News
So the kinks of my promotion have finally been worked out. In a few weeks, I will be piloting a Kindergarten program at my school. Because of this program, we will no longer be recognized by the state as a day care. We will be a school that happens to have day care.
So I will be teaching Kindergarten to 10 students. I will have my own classroom and will no longer have a co teacher. Nolan will...
Negative
I just received an email that my pregnancy test done today was negative. I never thought I was but it seems that most of my doctors are overly cautious and we always test for pregnancy before starting drugs. I suppose that is standard protocol right?
Anyway it was just under a year ago that I found out via email from the same doctor that I was pregnant with Nolan. Before I opened this email I...
Stuck
So I met with my Endocrinologist today to figure out why I haven’t really lost weight since delivery. Despite my best efforts and 9 miles of run/ walking a week, I’ve been stuck at this weight for almost 17 weeks!
First step was to rule out a second pregnancy. After doing so we discussed how PCOS can stall or slow down the metabolism. Apparently that is what happened to me.
I...
Nausea
So I’ve felt like crap since lunch. Just really bad nausea. So after hours of discomfort, I took a pregnancy test- negative, check my sugar- normal, and puked up my lunch. Turns out I ate something bad. Sucks that I have a fasting glucose test in the morning and I have no desire to eat anything!
Screw it I’m going to bed!
Terminal iPad
The restaurant we went to last weekend used an iPad at the hostess stand. Very cool!
The Chic- fil-a Experience
Every so often I go to Chicfila for lunch. And I’m so impressed with the drive thru experience that I just have to share.
My experience starts at the entrance of the parking lot. The lot is a maze of one way cones directing me to a spot or drive thru. I choose the drive thru. I enter the drive thru line and wait for the attendant to allow me into the line that circles the building. From...
