Take me back
Well, I just got a phone call from a friend of an ex who is moving to Nashville or wants to move here. Now, just a lil’ history, I haven’t had an ex for almost ten years, which means I haven’t talked to this dude since I was oh say 16 and 1/2. He asked about the “club” scene and if I was cool or “lame” because I was married. He even called my ex to find...

Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo
Hope you find a cute cowboy!! penorpencil: For the next week and a half, my life will heavily center around the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo. It is exactly what it sounds like - a giant fair just across the way from the journal with vendors and animals and rodeos. It’s actually a legitimate rodeo, award winning even. It won, like, best rodeo in the world for three years, or so. Tonight,...

Snow
It snowed or well it’s still snowing. They got it right this time. The interstates are a mess. I’m fascinated by all the four wheel drive vehicles. I think if I had one, I’d use it. South of Nashville the interstates are not clear until you get to Nashville. It’s wet and slick. Yuck, I think I’ll make cookies or read a book. Yeah, I finally got a snow day or well half...

Depressing facebook
When your account news feed is full to the max of sympathy notes for a hometown family who just had a tragic accident, it makes you count your blessings, call your momma, and want to go home. Life can be very short and we are not immune to tragedy. Death sucks.

Food 101 with Michael Pollan
I’m fascinated by this guy. Tyler has seen the documentary and read some of his books, but really with America’s obesity problem, I think he has some valid points. Here are a few of his guidelines to live by: “1: Eat food . 2: Don’t eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food.  7: Avoid food products containing ingredients that a third-grader...

Yesterday's drama
My co teach is taking a vaca so she’s in vaca mode. The grandma that yelled at me last fall called and asked for her daughter to return full time to my class. She started today. I’m stumped on what to read next. A parent in my class is hasseling my co teach. It’s amazing how much someone elses drama can get you down.

Blue
I wore blue socks with black pants. We need another bedroom light stat. Not having an overhead light is annoying.

Uh Oh
Tyler is going running. I’m supposed to be getting ready for work, but I’m about ready to crawl back in bed, throw the cover over my head, and turn my phone off. I’m sure no one will notice my absence.

Teach me to leave the nest
Well events from this week have inspired this post. How early do you begin preparing your children to leave you? To make it in the world? Like a mother lion does. Eventually, you have to let your young go right? Are we really that much more advanced than an animal. I know we are animals but are we really at the top? It is my observation that parents today are all to eagar to take on the classroom...

I Wonder
If Tyler’s parents will notice if throw everything in a closet/under the bed. This place is a mess and I’m too lazy to pick it up. 5 more minutes unless someone posts something really thrilling on Facebook then maybe it will be 10.

New to me
I just filled out 4 seperate two page reference letters with a 500 description of my experiences with one of my four year olds. Getting into private school requires money, applications, references, and interviews. How fascinating! I suppose when the tuition is between 9000-15000 a year you’d do the same to right?

Top That
So after nap today, I have a preschooler waiting on another preschooler to come out of the restroom so that she/he can use it. Turns out the one in there is taking forever. I walk in to find that he/she is in tears. Apparently another child got ahold of a red marker at nap time and proceeded to color in this child’s forehead . We’re talking frat boy style whole shebang. The child...

Going Rate
The going rate per tooth is 20 bucks. Nice to see that the Tooth Fairy has not been affected by the recession. What happened to quarters? Cost of living go up?

Sugar Sugar
So Tyler mentioned eating too many sweets a few days ago and it got me thinking, do we really eat that much sugar? I added up the grams of sugar I ate today, well the obvious ones so we know that it’s not completely accurate and I consumed about 120 grams of sugar. Oh my, this is not good at all. The recommended sugar intake is less that 50g of sugar per day. I’m not going to go all...

The Last Olympian
I’ve reached that part in my book series where I start to get anxious. This is the last book of the series. What to do next? Read one of the chic books from the used book store or scour the sites for new series to start. You don’t understand the complexity of this issue. I’m seriously addicted to reading. I’ve probably read 50 books in the last 4-5 months. I’m...

La Ha Night
Once a week or every other week, I get together with my co-workers and bitch over half price margaritas. It’s therapeutic and I can’t believe how close I’ve become with most of these gals. I spend all day with them, but barely have an adult conversation longer than 2 minutes at a time with most. Tomorrow or typical 4some has grown to 12some. New people are coming in and old ones...

Weekend of Nothingness
A weekend of nothingness has turned into a movie marathon of Night at the Museum and Transformers 2. We also checked out the restaurant store which was LAME and freezing. I made my first trip to the Salvation Army. I much prefer Goodwill. This one had a bad vibe but the TV’s were on and working. We dined at Athen’s. It’s a Greek/American restaurant. It was okay. I don’t...

Workout Shoes
I just splurged and bought workout shoes for the type of workout that I do not just “running” tennis shoes. My feet hurt when and after, I work out. It turns out that I’m wearing the wrong shoes. I bought “trainers” instead of “running” shoes. I’m pretty stoked to trying them out. For the record, running shoes look a hell of a lot cooler but at least...

Snow. Nashville Style
All schools were closed except for mine b/c my school is part childcare. We did close at 4:15. An email was sent out at 4 to come get your kids. My children were permitted to outside while it was snowing for 10 minutes to “experience” it. The roads are fine (interstates). The side roads are slick along with the sidewalks. No one has iced our parking lot at school or home. It snowed...

Urge
I have the urge to blog about things that are not appropriate. I have the urge to comment on Facebook status’s and photos. I know that it’s not socially acceptable to say the things that I think out loud so I’ll just keep them to myself, but ooh I really want to blog about it. Do it you say, well then I will have many many enemies. Friends will be lost.

Lesson Learned
We are still learning even as adults. My lesson that I learned today was that if you are waxing with Minwax check to make sure that you have water, so that you don’t have an ah fuck moment when you want to wash your hands! Huston we currently have a problem and it’s not snow!

Snug as a Bug
Oh why couldn’t it have snowed last night, so that I could be snug as a bug in my bed right now? It’s so stinking cold in our apartment that I’m considering risking my job and plopping back in. It doesn’t help that it’s too cold for Tyler to run so he is sleeping in later. Life is rough.
