Songs of 2010
With the New Year coming, I thought it would be cool to share songs that I have referred to throughout 2010 depending on my mood. I also have the time to finally share/blog.
Backwards
We’re going out to dinner on January 1st for New Year’s instead of New Year’s Eve. I’ve been dying to go to this Italian restaurant, but apparently so has everyone else. Maybe we’ll throw in a movie on New Year’s Eve to switch it up a bit?
I’m still fascinated by all the places you can call and things you usually reserve for Saturday that you can get...
Checking you out
I like to sit in the back of the waiting room and check out the maternity clothes of all the other mothers. I haven’t worked up the courage to ask them where they got them from. I guess that makes me a creeper
Milk
This coming from the person who used to weekly dump the expired milk down the drain. Last week I went through an entire gallon of milk. I’ve noticed that I start to get anxious if it is getting low before our next grocery trip. Lord help me, am I becoming my brother? (If you don’t know my brother, he drinks a half gallon of milk a day!)
Annoyed
I can’t stand that my car is covered in salt but it is too cold to wash it. At least everyone else had a car that is caked in salt like mine!
Snow Day
My boss left a message today at 5:30 a.m. that we were closed. First snow day of the year! Well after getting up to eat and then going back to bed, I was bored. I needed something to do. I ended up doing about 3 loads of laundry and asked Tyler to lunch to get tacos. He came and picked me up and by that time the roads were mostly clear. The parking lots and side roads had patches of ice.

Who came first Jesus or God?
Pre-K Gem: Last week 8 of my Pre-K students had a debate about who came first God or Jesus? The consensus was that Jesus came first because he came after the Jews got stuck on the hill during the fight (Ms. Rachel shared a Hanukkah story). Apparently God showed up only a few years ago. This lead into a discussion about where God and Jesus live? It was decided that God lives in the sky and Jesus...
Highlight
Tyler showed me that our hallway basically makes a loop or short lap. Walking is a requirement for maintaining diabetes but walking in the cold is not preferred. When I need to move I can walk around the third floor!
Does local milk taste different? →
My Pre-K class visited this farm last Summer. It is family owned and operated. They raise Jersey cows for milking. Ever since I’ve become pregnant, I crave this milk. This week we just upgraded to a full gallon. I think it tastes different than the Wal-Mart milk, but who knows maybe it’s just me? I can’t get enough of this milk!
630 Bath
Taking a bath at 6:30 really messes up
my evening. My brain thinks it’s time for bed but really it’s only 7:30.
Below Freezing and the South
Every time that it is cold and I struggle to decide whether or not to take the kids outside or not, I can’t help but to think back to the 3 years at CDL (Child Development Lab on the campus of SIUC). I just feel like the rules there were that we went outside for 20 minutes if it was above freezing and for brief periods of time if it was below freezing.
Today it was 31.5 degrees and we...
Meal Planning with Tyler
Tyler and I plan meals very differently. He prefers meals with a bit more pizzaz. My meals tend to be bland and oh all right lame. When it’s my turn to choose I usually suggest bacon and eggs or tomato soup and grilled cheese. Tyler will whip out his selection of Cooks Illustrated to choose something.
I know how to cook and I’m good at it but I don’t like to cook. I usually...
Glorious night
My foam mattress topper and 6 ft body pillow with 3 detachable sections came today! Please I just want to sleep straight thru the night with no hip pain! With all this extra cushion let’s hope I don’t roast!
New approach
Being diabetic isn’t all that hard. I just count carbs like a Jenny Craig client counts calories. What is tricky is that my “healthier” food places are devils in disguise. My Jimmy Johns lunch has twice as many carbs as a 5 Guys lunch (a place I would consider a splurge) and requires 2x as much insulin as my Thanksgiving dinner. Maybe I’ll just eat half.
On a really...
